Biography

I’m Sara Floris, a photographer with a base in fine art that believes art can make the world a better place.

My practice is socially and environmentally concerned. I have addressed themes such as drug abuse, feminism, and the environmental crisis through my directorial and conceptual photography.

I usually favour self-portraiture and portraiture, but I also produced an impactful still-life project.

I’m also curious and experimental, sometimes mixing different practices. Painting on top of prints or modelling my own props, to name a few.

 

Inspired by various artists and photographers on different levels, most recently I started reflecting on advertising as a space to promote social justice.

The controversial commercial photographer Oliviero Toscani played a significant role in it. I believe an aesthetic sensibility empowers the influential impact of an image.
